Project Details
Location: Las Vegas, NV
Description: Community Center located in Downtown Las Vegas. Single pad building consisting of entire interior remodel, new roof, new facade and storefronts, new physical and mental health and HIV testing center, new parking lots, new basketball court, the first gender-neutral restroom with over 10 toilet stalls in the United States, new health conscience cafe and commercial kitchen.
Project Size: 5,000 square feet, $4.5 Million Capital Campaign

Role: construction manager for entire build

Facade remodel and full tenant improvements.

Kat served on the Board of Directors at the center for 3 years.
When we took possession of the building, it had previously been a flooring sales store, and a pet store. We found some pretty weird stuff in the old interior rooms before we demolished the interior. One room, in particular (located in the new health center portion of the building) was nicknamed the dungeon because it had a Jesus mural on the wall with real shackles and chains hanging down and a depressed concrete floor. We removed all of that, poured a new floor, and put a window in there as an additional scope so that the new occupant wouldn’t feel depressed.
There was a custom cabinet built-in for the lobby area that housed over 20,000 donated (new) condoms. I had no idea that there were so many different types of condoms…and different flavors too!
The building and all of its uses - youth center, transgender center, library (housing over 10,000 LGBTQ books), the cafe, the health center, the meeting rooms with Modernfold moveable partition walls, the kitchens, and the staff operational area and storage is busting at the seams to effectively operate with. Currently, the Center has expanded with 2 other buildings located in different parts of the city to handle demand.
